Let it Be Episode 44 – Community

Let it Be listener Carla asked:

“I’m interested in your views on community … especially since you’re both introverts. How do you overcome your introversion and shyness and feel part of a community IRL? What defines a community for you?”

I found this to be a super-interesting conversation as one thing Brooke raised was the difference between ‘community’ and ‘tribe’. I thought those words were interchangeable but Brooke pointed out that the people in your community, it’s likely you have very little in common with them beyond geography or the fact your kids go to the same school or play sport together. You ‘tribe’, on the other hand, those people just ‘get’ you.

What this means, for introverts in particular, is that when you’re having conversations with people in your community, they’re generally always going to be of the ‘small talk’ variety. Which introverts hate.

In this episode we share why we’ve had to get over that. And how 🙂
